Seijin no Hi

The second Monday in January is Seijin no Hi, or Coming-of-Age Day. Young Japanese 20 year-olds are now legally allowed to drink, smoke, drive, vote, pay taxes, and now be put on jury duty. On Monday if you walk around the streets of Japan you may see lots of women in beautiful kimonos, men will be garbed in traditional hakama or possibly stylish suits.

Since Seijin no Hi is a national holiday, beNippon will be enjoying a three day weekend. I'll be back posting on Tuesday. Until then, yoi shumatsu wo!
